He're you'll be examening, creating and controlling external LSAs in OSPF; and of course with external LSAs comes the same amount of fun with their compainons -- the ASBR Summary LSA.
How many External LSAs exist in the LSDB?
How many ASBR Summary LSAs exist in the LSDB for each area?
Examine the LSA with the ID 101.101.101.101
List all of the ASBR Summary LSAs for the router that is originating the External LSA in the previous step
What role in the network is the router that is originating the External LSA with the ID 101.101.101.101 serving?
Examine the LSA with the ID 102.102.102.102
What are the roles of the routers that are advertising the ASBR Summary LSAs ?
Examine two External LSAs that are originating from one of the 0.0.0.1, 0.0.0.2 or 0.0.0.3 areas that your router is not serving as an ABR
Locate the LSA from the inspected area that is an External Type 1 route
What is the metric listed in the External LSA?
What is the forwarding address listed in the LSA?
In your router's routing table, what is the metric associated with the route for the LSA that has been installed in the routing table?
What is the metric listed in the ASBR Summary LSAs for the router that is originating the Type 1 External LSA?
What is the metric in your routers routing table for each of the two advertising ABRs?
Calculate the best route based on the contents of the ASBRsummary LSAs and your routes to the ABRs. Compare this to the value installed in your routing table
Locate the LSA from the inspected area that is an External Type 2 route
Compare the metric in the Type 2 LSA to the metric installed for the route in your routing table
Check and see if your router is advertising any External LSAs
Check and see if your router is the target of any ASBR Summary LSAs
Delete your loopback interface from the backbone area
Advertise your loopback interface with an export policy
Check and see if your router is originating any External LSAs or is the target of any ASBR Summary LSAs
Create a static route with the next hop of "receive" for the prefix 5.1..0/25
Create a static route with the next hop of "receive" for the prefix 5.2..0/25
Advertise the 5.2..0/25 prefix as a Type 2 External Route with a metric of 2 and a tag of 2
What is the flooding scope of the three External LSAs your router is originating?
Is your router identifying itself in any ASBRSummary LSAs that it is originating?
Configure your router not to install any routes in the 5.1.0.0/16 and 5.2.0.0/16 range learned through External LSAs
Does your routing table have any routes to the 5.1.0.0/16 or 5.2.0.0/16 networks (aside from your own static routes)?
Are any LSAs in the 5.1.0.0/16 and 5.2.0.0/16 range still present in the LSDB?
