This is a quick guide on how to open up the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet (2014). I couldn't find one, so I figured I write one.
My goal was to open the SHIELD up to see if there would be room to fit a wireless Qi coil, and there appears to be plenty of space. It also looks to be fairly easy to tap into the USB port from the inside to insert the charging circuitry. I wasn't planning on tearing out the guts any further until I ordered my coil.
There are several components such as the battery and some of the antenna cabling that is taped down into place. The boards are held to the case with small screws. What I think is the stylus sensor is glued to the backside of the case.
The battery is a 5200mAh made by Yoku. It is held down by a generous amount of strong tape. I can't tell without removing the tape if it is glued down or not, but it appears to be replaceable if the need arises.
